Free Music on the Beach Concert Series Returns to Kings Beach for 20th Season

Full lineup of live music kicks off Friday, June 19

KINGS BEACH, Calif. (June 15, 2026) – For the 20th season, the popular Music on the Beach free concert series is returning to Kings Beach with a full lineup of live performances. Presented by the Kings Beach District with support from the North Tahoe Chamber, Music on the Beach features a wide range of musical genres all set against the stunning backdrop of North Lake Tahoe.

Beginning June 19, concerts are scheduled nearly every Friday (except July 3 and August 7) through September 4, 2026, starting at 6:30 p.m. Craft beer from Alibi Ale Works, wine from Truckee River Winery, and local food vendors will serve from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

“Music on the Beach has been a signature event series in Kings Beach for 20 years, and we’re excited to welcome music lovers back for another great summer of live tunes, great food and drinks, and dancing on the beach,” said Darcy Parrillo, Kings Beach District Manager.

Kicking off the series on June 19 is Pacific Vibration, a premier independent reggae band led by singer-songwriter Kerry Wing of Pacifica, California. Rooted in authentic reggae rhythms and elevated by soulful, expressive vocals, the band delivers conscious, uplifting music with lyrics aimed to make a positive change in the world.

Concert goers are encouraged to use public transportation, walk, or ride a bike to the Kings Beach State Recreation Area. Thanks to support from the North Tahoe Community Alliance, the Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition will offer a free, secure bike valet for each event, making it easy and convenient to ride instead of drive.

Outside alcohol and pets are not permitted at Music on the Beach events. Volunteers are always needed (sign-up here), and concert or series sponsors are welcome.

Supporting Local Artists at the Visitor Information Centers

The North Tahoe Chamber proudly supports local artists and small businesses by featuring their work in our Visitor Information Centers. Showcasing locally made art and products creates meaningful opportunities for residents and visitors to connect with the creativity and character of North Lake Tahoe while directly supporting the talented individuals who call this place home.

Currently, the Kings Beach Visitor Center is featuring Daniel Chavez, an NTCA team member, adventurer, and photographer with a passion for capturing the world from perspectives most never see. Whether trekking mountain trails, exploring remote landscapes by off-road vehicle, or venturing out at night with his camera and telescope, Daniel’s work brings both the vast sky and the earth’s hidden corners into focus.

Astrophotography is one of his deepest passions. Daniel captures celestial wonders that are often invisible to the naked eye, revealing the hidden beauty of the universe and offering a glimpse into worlds many have never explored. Through aerial drone photography, he adds yet another dimension, showcasing the scale and serenity of the landscapes that surround places like Lake Tahoe and beyond.

Daniel’s goal is to share these experiences with others — the wonder of the night sky, the thrill of exploration, and the quiet power of nature. He believes fine art photography should be accessible, not exclusive, and strives to offer his work at an affordable price so anyone can bring a piece of nature or the cosmos into their space.

“Destination Champion” Online Training Platform Launches

New initiative led by the Destination Stewardship Council, North Tahoe Chamber, Tahoe Chamber and Truckee Chamber, aims to provide effective ways to engage with visitors and encourage everyone to help take care of Tahoe

LAKE TAHOE, Calif. & Nev. (Jan. 28, 2026) – A new online training platform created to provide consistent training for community members and local professionals to become champions of Tahoe and Truckee is launching today. The self-paced â€œDestination Champion” program provides effective strategies for teaching visitors about the region’s unique culture and how to encourage people to help care for and protect what makes Tahoe and Truckee special.

The initiative, which aims to incentivize participants to complete the training by offering gift cards valid for services and experiences offered by local businesses, is being led by the Destination Stewardship Council in collaboration with partners at the North Tahoe Chamber, Tahoe Chamber and Truckee Chamber.

“Our region’s best advocates have always been those who live and work in our community,” said Nettie Pardue, managing director of the Lake Tahoe Destination Stewardship Council. “If we work together to teach visitors about the culture of our mountain towns, they’re more likely to embrace the pace of the Tahoe lifestyle when they’re here, feel more connected to our communities, and want to help take care of them.”

The self-paced online training program takes approximately one hour to complete and includes interactive modules designed to deepen knowledge of the Tahoe and Truckee regions and enhance visitor service skills. Participants can expect to learn tips for engaging with people — including handling challenges and difficult situations — familiarization with the three regions (North Lake Tahoe, South Lake Tahoe and Truckee) and the Washoe people, what sustainable tourism means for the region, and best practices in the outdoors.

The Destination Stewardship Council partnered with Learn Tourism to create the Destination Champion platform. A nonprofit academy that delivers effective and efficient education programs that engage, inspire, and empower stakeholders, Learn Tourism has worked with 60+ destinations to provide similar training platforms with strong results.

A Practical Path Forward for Revitalizing North Lake Tahoe’s Town Centers

By Adam Wilson, North Tahoe Community Alliance chief operating officer

Over the past year, the North Tahoe Community Alliance (NTCA) and the North Tahoe Chamber partnered with Downtown Strategies to take a focused look at how we can strengthen the town centers of Kings Beach and Tahoe City through practical actions that build momentum and support long-term success.

Together, we’ve developed a two-year strategic action plan designed to accelerate existing revitalization efforts, align partners around a shared vision, and identify near-term projects that can make a meaningful difference quickly. This work is rooted in local input, market realities, and the belief that small, well-executed wins lead to lasting change.

Built with Community, Designed for Action

The revitalization study was shaped through an in-market discovery process that included stakeholder workshops with business and property owners, residents, and community leaders. Their insights helped identify strategies that are asset-based, market-driven, and ready to implement.

Four Focus Areas Guiding the Work

The action plan is organized around four interconnected focus areas:

  • Policy & Administration: Creating clearer, more efficient pathways for high-value businesses and development, including overlay districts tailored to each community and a regional “Get to Yes” approach to reduce barriers and speed up decision-making.
  • Design: Enhancing vibrancy through low-cost, high-impact improvements like lighting, public art, banners, and visual activations that strengthen a sense of place and encourage people to spend more time in our downtown areas.
  • Tourism & Promotion: Focusing on experiences that create better connections—not more people—by intentionally connecting events, businesses, and seasonal offerings to support a balanced, year-round economy.
  • Economic Vitality: Capturing more local spending through strategies like a semi-permanent retail village in Kings Beach, beach-focused service expansions, and new partnerships that support entrepreneurs and small businesses.

From Strategy to Implementation

Revitalization only works if it moves from planning to action. That’s why implementation is structured around a North Shore Core Team, along with dedicated action teams for Kings Beach and Tahoe City, to keep projects moving forward and coordinated across partners.

The goal is straightforward: create early wins, build confidence, and maintain momentum toward larger, long-term improvements that benefit the entire community. Things like seasonal workforce sharing, cross-promotional packages, and collaborative purchasing.

What This Means for Residents and Businesses

For residents, this work is about more vibrant, welcoming town centers that reflect local character, support year-round livability, and improve everyday experiences—not just during peak visitor seasons.

For businesses, the revitalization plan focuses on:

  • Lowering barriers to entry and expansion
  • Creating more foot traffic and longer stays
  • Supporting collaboration instead of competition
  • Keeping more visitor dollars circulating locally

Most importantly, this is not a top-down effort. Success depends on continued community involvement, shared ownership, and a willingness to test ideas, learn, and adapt. Community members are encouraged to join an Action Team, promote positive progress, and support initiatives that create a spark and help build momentum in our community. An action team interest meeting will be held on January 15 at 1:30 p.m. at the North Tahoe Event Center in Kings Beach. Participants can also join via Zoom, using the information provided below.

Revitalization doesn’t happen all at once—but when short-term actions create a spark, momentum builds that can lead to broader change. That’s the path we’re on together in North Lake Tahoe.
